Journal Entry 8

This week I learned a lot about overcoming challenges. I really liked learning about this because it made this whole entrepreneurial process more realistic. There are always going to be challenges when it comes to business and you can always overcome them whether it’s how you expected it to be or not. This study this week made everything very realistic but also optimistic as well and i’ve always considered myself a realistic and optimistic thinker so i appreciate these perspectives. I really liked in one of the videos it talked about good things to come. In good things to come it talks about a family trying to get somewhere very far and there car keeps breaking down. They get frustrated as they can’t figure out what is going wrong. I loved that it talked about how some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come till heaven. Love how much this makes me want to trust god even more as well as be more patient for those good things to come. Our expectations for our busin...

Journal Entry 7

I really liked the articles and videos we had to watch and read this week for this class. In on video in particular we learned about 7 habits that can make you successful. Those habits are: be proactive, begin with the end in mind, first things first, think win-win, first seek to understand then seek to be understood, create synergy, and sharpen the saw. If someone were to ask me "what are 7 habits that could make you successful" I definitely wouldn't have thought of things this complex, but I love it! They are complex but so simple at the same time.     I would say the habit that has the most meaning for me would be "seek to understand, then seek to be understood." I really liked that one because it makes it all about the other person. It talks about how you can't have a win-win situation if you don't know what winning means to the other person. I really like the thought about thinking about someone else first so you can succeed together. I d...

What I really liked learning this week was how important it is to prioritize family in your career. When I say “in your career” I mean that your career shouldn’t be a separate part of your life. Your family should be the most important part of your life and providing for them is important too but never putting work over them. I understand life can get stressful, especially when it comes to work but it doesn’t have to be. And I know it’s not that easy but you don’t have to overwork yourself, you can enjoy your job, and you can still have time for your family.      I grew up in a family where work was prioritized over the family and relationships and it was awful. Did we have enough money? Yes. But did we have good relationships? No. My dad would be gone most saturdays, my mom was the one picking us up from school, doing yard work, hanging out with us, doing homework, and my dad barely got home in time for dinner…at 8 at night. Long nights at work and dishonesty dest...

Journal Entry 5

My key takeaways from “A Hero’s Journey” video were that anyone is capable to succeed. In his speech he was talking about himself and at one point he asked himself: “do I really have what it takes to succeed?” Hearing this the first time it made me kind of sad that someone would ask themselves that. But then I started thinking, I bet there are a thousand times i’ve asked myself that before. It also was a little comforting when I had the sudden realization I wasn’t the only one to ask myself that. As comforting as it was I then went back to how sad so many dreams people have they just don’t think they can accomplish them so they don’t even start anywhere. It’s crazy that literally anything is possible but also that we don’t know our own potential. Another thing he mentioned that I really liked is when he said: “So what does it mean to choose a hero’s journey? It means to live every moment of your life like it matters, because it does. It means to live as if you have an important mission...
