Journal Entry 7

I really liked the articles and videos we had to watch and read this week for this class. In on video in particular we learned about 7 habits that can make you successful. Those habits are: be proactive, begin with the end in mind, first things first, think win-win, first seek to understand then seek to be understood, create synergy, and sharpen the saw. If someone were to ask me "what are 7 habits that could make you successful" I definitely wouldn't have thought of things this complex, but I love it! They are complex but so simple at the same time.

I would say the habit that has the most meaning for me would be "seek to understand, then seek to be understood." I really liked that one because it makes it all about the other person. It talks about how you can't have a win-win situation if you don't know what winning means to the other person. I really like the thought about thinking about someone else first so you can succeed together. I don't think a lot of people have this mindset and that needs to change.

The 7 habits will help you fill your life with passion and purpose as you seek to achieve both a private and public victory by wanting to succeed for you and not for anyone else. Sometimes I think people only believe they are successful if their audience tells them they are but if they tear them down, they won't believe they have made it even if they have. That's why social media jobs (which is so many) can be so toxic and can make you feel like you haven't done anything and aren't successful when you could be achieving so much if you just changed your perspective and believe in yourself.
