Journal Entry 2
I think Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he gave people a chance and they gave him a chance. He also never stopped trying, he definitely failed a couple times and got turned down but that didn't stop him. His perspective I think really effected whether or not his dreams came true or not. He didn't look at Disney turning him down as a reason to not do it, he looked at it as an opportunity to try harder and realized that's what he really wanted to do.
I feel that dreaming is very important. I think it's a great thing no matter where you're at in life. When I would dream when I was younger whether it was about a boy, becoming a fashion designer, or how many dogs I'm going to have when I grow up, it always made me happy. Dreaming is such a positive thing for everyone. It gives you hope and something to look forward to. The beauty of this life is that it isn't planned out, we all got the gift of agency. We get to decide what career we want to do, where we live, and how many dogs we get to live with in the future. Dreaming isn't declaring a path but creating many options to go down.
One childhood dream is to get married in the temple. This sounds very cheesy I'm sure hearing this as a teacher at byui but it really has always been a dream. It was always instilled in me since primary and has been a goal ever since. I believe I can achieve it because it isn't just something that is programmed in me to do but since I gained a testimony for myself, it's something I want to do. I try to live the gospel as best as I can and with the effort I put in, I believe I will be able to achieve that.
